Brownies

Good day to you and you and you!

Guess where am I now?

B R I S T O L !
Yes, I'm in UK now! Can't believe this is actually true even though I pinched myself quite a few times haha! But yeah! I'M IN FUCKING BRISTOL MATE!  :D

Anyways, a few days ago I planned to do some baking since there is a baking oven in my accommodation kitchen and to get some guys *slurppp*

So browse through the internet for some simple cake recipes, and I found BROWNIES.
Probably the easiest one to bake, but it turns out to be a bit... difficult.

Ok, fine! Honestly, I'm an idiot. When I baked the first tray of brownies, they were... burnt. That's right, hard. solid. black. muthafarkers. It was all because I forgot to change the oven settings back to 'bake' from 'grill'. Thank goodness floormate told + taught me the settings when she entered the kitchen which was full of the smell of burning. lol

This is when I'm getting pissed and impatient. Nevertheless, I still have the mood to camwhore. LOL
Yes, this pic is taken by myself. Geng leh?! :P

Right, I have to start everything from the beginning for the 2nd tray. According to the original recipe, the serving portion is quite small, probably for 2 to 3 pax. So, when I was preparing for the 2nd tray, everything- the ingredients, the measuring were multiplied by 4 times.

Superb!  :d

This time it was a perfect success! BUT! (haha, there is always a 'but')
The 2nd tray turned out to be brownie pudding cake or betterchocolate lava cake brownie.
Look at that fucking chocolate sauce!!! *screams*
This was also when I feel like calling straight to my home and tell my family that I can be a good housewife (oh, Nigella Lawson!) in the future. LOL

By the way, it was too late to realize that the serving portion is huge that me and my fellow Malaysian mates can't finish the half of it. HAH! This is the consequence of letting greed taking over your mind!
Thus, we have to sort some portion out to the other peeps.
Priceless momentum!
In the end, everybody gains a bit of weight and blames me for the guilty pleasure!

Here's the recipe:
3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (you can skip this if you don't want a spicy flavor in your brownies)
1/3 cup and 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (be sure to seperate them)
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 3/4 cups boiling water

Steps:1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Grease a 9 inch square baking dish or round souffle dish.

3. Combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and 1/3 cup cocoa in medium bowl. Add milk, butter and vanilla, stir until just blended. Spoon the batter into the prepared dish.

4. Combine brown sugar and remaining 1/4 cup cocoa in small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over batter.

5. Pour boiling water over entire mixture; do not stir.

6. Bake 35 to 38 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the top layer comes out clean. Cool at least 10 minutes.
(actually 30 minutes is quite enough for my brownies)

7. Sprinkle with powdered sugar OR place a spoonful of ice-cream on top before serving.
